Teaching Philosophy

Social change is enacted through art by spreading awareness, building tolerance, and creating connections with the audience. My approach to teaching and dance-making echo one another- play and joy are intermingled with serious cultural and personal considerations. My classroom is a place of world-making; I teach students about the world we live in while giving them the tools to begin planning for the world they WANT to live in. My dance classroom is a place of radical learning and self-discovery, packaged safely in a clearly structured environment with an encouraging and positive energy; learning and delight are inextricably intertwined.

I am a fiercely passionate teacher and creator. I do nothing with lackluster intentionality but burst into each space with my fully vulnerable heart and mind at the disposal of the students and audience as I push for more from each individual as well as myself. It is my full commitment to my work which engages people, and brings us forward together.
